Anderson Sports Center/Athletic Fields

Anderson Sports-Health Center

The Anderson Sports-Health Center, a facility which successfully integrates academic, health and athletic facilities, is representative or Misericordia University’s ongoing commitment to its students and the community.

As competition for students increases, it is imperative that Misericordia University’s Anderson Sports-Health Center serve as an attractive campus resource as well as a mutual point of engagement for all of our students.

A renovated Anderson Sports-Health Center will also enhance our ability to attract and retain student-athletes while participating in the competitive Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC).

Baseball - Tambur Field

Although Misericordia invested in a new infield several years ago, the lack of dugouts and fencing makes our baseball field one of the poorest in the MAC. The design of our new baseball diamond addresses those and other limitations and will certainly position our baseball facilities higher up the Middle Atlantic Conference ladder.

Like many of our renovation or new construction initiatives, there is a tangible community benefit to the baseball field project. This focus on community has served Misericordia and our Back Mountain neighbors well over the years, and will do so again as we embark on a project that will yield significant institutional and regional benefit for many years to come.

Current plans call for Tambur Field to open in time for the spring 2013 baseball season.

Soccer, Field Hockey, and Lacrosse Field

Misericordia will convert the existing multi-use natural grass Anderson Field to a synthetic turf field. This athletic field will be used extensively by Misericordia’s soccer, field hockey, and lacrosse programs and by various youth/young adult soccer, lacrosse, and field hockey programs comprising hundreds of participants form the greater Back Mountain community.

The public access provided by Misericordia to these sports teams will provide a long-term solution to the need for practice and playing sites, achieve substantial cost savings, and will avoid unnecessary duplication among neighboring community programs.
