Clearances

Many community agencies and organizations require volunteers and students doing service learning to obtain Pennsylvania Child Abuse and/or State Police Criminal Record Check especially for programs that work with children or other vulnerable populations (children, elderly, etc). To determine if an agency requires clearances contact the agency directly.

Clearances average 4-6 weeks to be processed. It is recommended that students who are sure they want to work with children or vulnerable populations should file the clearances as early as possible in the semester.

Pennsylvania State Police Request for Criminal Record Check:

To obtain a state police criminal record check, please visit their online processing site with a valid credit card. Their current response time for record requests labeled UNDER REVIEW is between two to three weeks from the date the request was made. Thank you for your patience as they process your request. Patch has updated its credit card system. You may notice that submissions take a bit longer than before due to extra security checks. You will now be required to provide your credit card's CVM number (a three or four digit number often found on the back of your card).
