Q. What is the difference between Meals, Cougar Points, and Flex?
A. Meals are used in the Dining Hall during breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They are considered declining balance. For example, if you purchase 100 meals, and you eat in the Dining Hall 3 times in one day, your new meal balance is 97. Meals expire at the end of the semester, and do not carry over from semester to semester.
Cougar Points are the Flex Dollars that come with you Meal Plan. They work just like Flex Dollars, with the exception that Cougar Points expire at the end of the academic year and do not carry over.
Flex is a safe way to use money all around campus, including the Dining Hall, Cougar's Den, Intermetzo Cafe, and the Health Science kiosk. Think of Flex Dollars as a pre-paid debit card with your picture on it. Loaded onto your student ID, your purchases are automatically deducted from your pre-paid Flex Dollars. It is a convenient and great supplement to meals. Flex does not expire and may carry over from year to year. You may add Flex Dollars to your account at any time.
Q. What if I have a food allergy or other dietary restriction such as a low fat diet? What if I want to live a vegetarian or vegan lifestyle on campus?
A. We are very sensitive to the unique food situations of students, both those who are physically unable to eat certain foods, and those that choose a specific lifestyle. Our staff, including our Chef, works directly with these students on a one-on-one basis to ensure everyone is not only accommodated, but carefully considered so that they may enjoy delicious food while at school.
Q. What do I do if I lost my student ID, need to add meals or Flex, or have other general questions regarding meal plan policies?
A. The staff at Misericordia Student Accounts will be glad to assist you with any questions or problems concerning your student ID, including adding or changing you Meal Plan. They are located in Mercy Hall and can be reached at (570) 674 - 6222.
