ISHMAEL BEAH - A Long Way Gone: A Story of Redemption and Hope

As a former child soldier in Sierra Leone left orphaned by the war, Ishmael emerged intact from this chaos and has become one of its most eloquent chroniclers. His story helps humanity see through the horrors of war to find the places in the heart of tenderness, redemption and hope.

Presentation of Student Service Projects

Misericordia University students volunteer their time and talent locally and around the world in the spirit of our founders and sponsors, the Sisters of Mercy. Campus Ministry will highlight many of these projects with a display in the Banks Student Life Center.

The English Faculty of Misericordia will read original poetry in honor of President Botzman's inauguration.

A Presentation of Faculty and Student Scholarly Work

Students and faculty from each of Misericordia University’s three academic colleges will present highlights from their research and scholarly work.

Fr. Leo Patalinghug - Host of Grace Before Meals

Fr. Leo Patalinghug is a parish priest in Millersville, MD and is the host and founder of Grace Before Meals, an apostolate to strengthen families and communities around the dinner table. He has appeared on ABC, CBS, PBS and The Food Network sharing a message of hope and bringing people together, one meal at a time.

The entire campus community and friends from around the world are encouraged to meet and greet Dr. Thomas Botzman upon his installation as Misericordia’s 13th President. Light refreshments will be served. Free. Open to students, faculty, staff, alumni, and special guests.

Community Service Projects
Join us as we celebrate the Inauguration of Dr. Thomas Botzman by engaging in community service projects at multiple sites in Northeast Pennsylvania. Celebrate spirit and mission of our founders and sponsors, the Sisters of Mercy.

Misericordia University is pleased to honor our generous donors and celebrate the Inauguration of Dr. Thomas Botzman. The Tambur Family and the Tambur Family Foundation will be honored as the 2013 Trustee Associates.
