Why Should Alumni, Parents, and Friends Support the Misericrodia University Annual Fund?

A gift to the Misericordia University Annual Fund is simply a gift to MU generally without any restrictions from the donor. Unrestricted gifts support MU by allowing the University flexibility in determining how best to use the funds. Unrestricted giving is a chance for you to do the greatest good for education.

Where does the money go?

Unrestricted funds are directed to where
they can have the greatest impact.
They address priorities and bring
immediate benefits to the University
by providing:

•Student Financial Assistance 27%
•Instructional and Academic Support 27%
•Institutional Support 21%
•Physical Plant 16%
•Student Services 9%

Unrestricted gifts are precious resources. Unrestricted giving is a chance for a donor to have an Immediate impact on our areas of greatest need. Unrestricted gifts are “Opportunity Dollars” giving Misericordia University the flexibility of providing seed money to create exciting new directions, for nurturing the development of students, faculty, and staff, or promoting our university in numerous ways.

What is the Annual Fund Goal?

With your help, we can reach the 2008-09 Annual Fund goal of $1,050,000. Plus, every person who gives will count towards our participation rate—our secondary goal, though no less important. Outside sources of funding, such as government agencies and corporate foundations, measure the viability of potential recipients based on levels of participation.

The participation goal for the year 2008-09 is 29%, which will help us maintain our leadership standing (top 1%) when compared to like-sized Universities. One of many ways in which we can demonstrate this is through employee giving. Remember, while large gifts are most welcome, a small gift still says that you believe in our mission and have confidence in our students. It is the act of giving itself that matters. The gifts we make together will make a difference.
