Construction on the complex, which is set in a wooded area right on campus, was completed in September 2002, with lights being added the following year. The complex was also built with the generous support of Dr. Anderson. The field itself is known as Mangelsdorf Field at the Anderson Outdoor Athletic Complex. It honors Jack Mangelsdorf and his wife, Dorothy Darte Darling Mangelsdorf, whose generosity enabled the college to construct the field. They are both huge lacrosse fans!

The complex includes a six-lane synthetic track manufactured by Polytan Incorporated, Burgheim, Germany, the same company that installs artificial athletic surfaces worldwide, including the resurfacing of the artificial running surface at Munich Olympic Stadium.
Track athlete
This track has an 8-lane straightaway, and also includes areas for steeplechase, long jump, high jump, triple jump, and pole vault.
Javelin throw
There is a separate natural grass throwing area for hammer, javelin and shot-put. The surface itself is grass-like with an identical look to highly manicured grass fields.
Field hockey is played on Mangelsdorf
Our men's and women's lacrosse team, men's and women's soccer team, and field hockey team play their home games on the durable synthetic surface. Having stadium lights installed around the field has allowed for maximum usage, as teams can practice anytime of the day or night.
Misericordia lacrosse
The state-of-the-art synthetic grass surface keeps athletes active when weather conditions are not ideal. Mangelsdorf can withstand up to 14 inches of rain an hour and still be playable. In addition, the make-up of the field has proved resilient enough to host multiple team practices during the same day.
