The centerpiece to the first floor is the newly-constructed Alden Trust Computer Teaching Laboratory. It is a high-tech teaching classroom that enhances the teaching and learning process for the students. The room’s specific features include 21 wireless computer workstations and a 65" plasma screen connected to a SMART Sympodium. The Sympodium has software installed so the instructor can write on their touch screen such that graphics and text will be displayed on the plasma screen, and assume control of any individual PC in the classroom from the lectern to assist in the teaching process. The wireless network for this classroom extends throughout the entire library and to parts of the nearby Wachovia Amphitheater. With the proper laptop configuration students will be able to access the Internet with their laptops. For students who do not own a laptop the library has some laptops that can be signed out for use inside the library.
