Medical Imaging Class of 2012
MI Class of 2012

The 13 members of the Misericordia University December 2012 medical imaging graduating class recently passed the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) national certification examination in radiography.

Two members of the December 2012 graduating class also achieved several significant accomplishments, as Jeffrey Williams of Thompson, Pa., and Kaitlyn Lane of Nanticoke, Pa., scored in the 99th and 98th percentile on the certification examination which means only 1 and 2 percent of ARRT test-takers nationwide scored higher than the Misericordia graduates.

Melissa Makos

Thirty-six Medical Imaging majors represented Misericordia on November 3rd at the 10th annual Radiography Day sponsored by Penn State/Hershey. We had 24 participants in either the Technibowl or Poster Competition. Once again, MU students swept all three places in the poster competition. Senior Mellisa Makos tied for first place with our team of 4 sophomores: Sara Casterline, Michelle Cipilewski, Kelli Harvey and Jessica Waskho. Mellisa's poster was entitled: "Reducing Recalls in Mammography". The sophomores' poster was entitled: "Fluorescence Brings New Light to Ovarian Cancer Surgery". The junior team of Kayla Copertino and Jamie Dougherty placed third with their entry: "Perception of Cryotherapy".

On November 7, 2011 a pizza party was held to both celebrate National Radiologic Tchnology and unify the MI majors. Senior students spoke to underclassmen regarding their intership opportunities and experiences. Door prizes were drawn, and all students received a small gift from the department
